Please ensure that you use the medication names written on your surgery medication repeat prescribing list and not the names on the bottle or packaging as this causes a delay in prescribing the relevant items. Thank you for your co-operation.
PLEASE DO NOT ADD COMMENTS WHEN REQUESTING REPEAT PRESCRIPTION UNLESS YOU HAVE A CHANGE IN MEDICATION THAT YOU WANT TO TELL US ABOUT.
If you are on regular medication please return your prescription counterfoil to the surgery, by post or in person, at least two working days before you run out of tablets.
If you enclose a stamped addressed envelope we will post it back to you. Some local chemists are able to collect and deliver prescriptions, please ask the receptionist.
Your doctor will agree with you the number of repeat prescriptions you may have before asking you to make an appointment to check on your condition. If you have completely run out of your medicine your usual chemist may be able to give you a small supply.
We cannot accept requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone.
Please note that the on-line repeat prescribing module only allows patients to request usual repeat items and not acute items. If the medication you require is not listed please contact the Surgery and make an appointment with your Doctor.
Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
- Prescription (per item): £8.60
- 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104.00
- 3-month PPC: £29.10
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
